Alloy 4047 was originally developed as a brazing alloy to take advantage of its low melting point and narrow freezing range. In addition,it has a higher silicon content than 4043,which provides for
Increased fluidity reduced shrinkage.The alloy produces bright and almost smut free welds.Hot cracking is siginificantly reduced when 4047 is used as a filler alloy.

Brazing is a metal joining process utilizing a filler metal that melts above 840ºF and below the melting point of the base metals. The filler metal is drawn into the joint by capillary attraction producing a sound, leak-proof connection.
