It is insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether, and can be mixed with most organic solvents. It is mainly used as a solvent and can also be used for degreasing, freezing, pesticides, spices, rubber industry, washing fabrics, etc.

Trichloroethylene is mainly used as a dry cleaning agent for metal degreasing and wool and fabrics, and is used for dry cleaning.
