NFPA 701 for fire-retardant fabric and film material combustion test, published by the National Fire Protection Association.The standards are widely used in the United States, for public curtains and other hanging fabrics,  which not water resistant fabric.
This Flame Propagation Tester is made according to the US Fire Department NFPA 701 method.It is suitable for single or multiple layers of fabric panel for gram more heavily than 700g / m2 (21od/yd2) fabrics, and polyethylene-coated fabric etc.

Test Method 1 vs Test Method 2... What's the difference?

Test Method 1   applies to materials with a density less than or equal to 700/b/m². Items that fall within this category would be draperies/curtains or other fabrics used as window treatments. They are single layer fabrics. It is usually single-layer fabrics.  The exception to this is when more than one layer is fastened together by sewing or other mechanical means.  

Test Method 2  applies to plastic films, vinyl-coated fabric such as blackout linings, or lined curtains that have a vinyl coating.  Decorative materials other than fabrics fall within this category.  fabrics with or without reinforcement or a backing that is used as decoration inside a building must also pass Test 2. This also includes permanent enclosures for building under construction. Of course awnings, plastic tarps, tents, banners or membrane structures must meet the Test 2 requirements.
